Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Actress Lindsay Lohan was ordered Tuesday to serve 90 days in jail for missing alcohol counseling sessions in violation of her probation.
The judge also ordered Lohan to spend 90 days in a drug and alcohol rehab program after her jail term is completed.
The actress must begin serving her sentence on July 20, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel said.
After Revel ruled that Lohan had violated her probation in a 2007 drunken driving conviction by missing weekly alcohol counseling sessions, Lohan began sobbing as she addressed the court. "I did do everthing that I was told to do and did the best I could," she said.

Hopefully this will be a wake-up call for her that she isn't above the law.

I heard on the radio this morning that she'll probably do about half the time they ordered. Better than nothing though :dunno

Don't be surprised if it's less than that. The courts are in a severe budget crunch and nonviolent offenses are getting less time in the jails due to overcrowding. She might do a couple weeks and then she'll serve the rest on either home detention or in a program.

Do you like her nails?

You might want to reconsider a "free" Lindsay :whistle

Anything they can do at this point to wake her up to the fact that she is just throwing away not only her career, but her life is a plus in my book. The kid needs help and the sooner the better.

Paris Hilton emerged from jail virtually unscathed, and is free to party worldwide now. (AND get her buddies to take the rap for her, too)

Lindsey Lohan SHOULD accept this for the wake-up call it is, but probably won't.
