"Walt: The Man Behind the Myth" will premiere on Thursday, February 3rd at 9pm est. The two hour documentary will repeat that evening at 12am.

"Walt: The Man Behind the Myth" is the definitive filmed biography of Walt Disney. Based on over 75 interviews with Walt’s closest friends and collaborators as well as leading historians, "Walt" traces the life and creative achievements of one of America’s most enduring icons in entertainment. In addition to the familiar stories of how Walt conceived of Mickey Mouse and created the first feature-length animated cartoon with "Snow White," the film also reveals the lesser-known saga of how the studio faced near-bankruptcy in the wake of a strike and World War II; how Walt skimped and saved, and even cashed in his family's life insurance, in order to finance the early development of Disneyland; how the Disney Studio broke the Hollywood taboo of early television; and how, in his final days, Walt was fully devoted to building a city of the future near what is today Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

"Walt: The Man Behind the Myth" is a production of Pantheon Studios, Inc. for the Walt Disney Family Foundation.

So this isn't going to be some sort of 'expose' where they reveal he was really a devil-worshipping cannibal or anything, is it?:lookaroun

Fox loves Walt Disney. As between the two, CNBC would be more likely to try and run the anti-semitic or anti-communist angle, though I doubt they will. It sounds like they are going more for the Orwellian "Big Brother" city planner angle. :lookaroun

I read on Magic that this is a Disney-produced show. More likely, we'll get his case for canonization. :lol

Missed the first 40 minutes but enjoyed the rest. Going to DVR the replay

They glossed over the polo accident

Really surprising to see all the old timers, some of whom are no longer with us.

I never before saw a film clip before on how fragile he really looked. He looked so tired and worn out at the ski mountain signing.

This looked more like something from the new Walt Disney museum which I really enjoyed. The family moments of Walt as a person and not a brand. When Diane Disney fell out of the play house because Walt told her to lean out further....LOL

The ending was sad. It all started when you held Walt say he needed 15 years to complete EPCOT.

I really was glued to the TV waiting to hear every word about the man and what he went though. He was such a risk taker but believed in himself.

I like how in order to build DL he had to get ABC to take 35% ownership and now Disney owns ABC.

I agree with you, Sherman. I don't think I had ever seen that footage from the cruise. He looked old and frail!

I remember him introducing the Sunday night episodes, which I now realize he was already dead and gone when I saw those. But he looked years younger, certainly

If you ever get a chance to see the Walt Disney Family Museum, you should definitely see it. :thumbs
