I've said it elsewhere, but it bears repeating: NOW can we stop exhuming ancient rock stars for halftime shows? :goofy

:yes

And I think the key phrase is "rock stars". There are some musicians who can continue to perform to a ripe old age, but The Who, and the music they are known for and the songs they performed last night are raw, emotional and a product of youth.

Pete Townshend probably could have done something from All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes, and it could have worked and made a nice set . . . but that would have been out of place in the Super Bowl setting.

. . . though I have to admit, there was a twisted part of me that was HOPING they'd end the set with a tongue-in-cheek version of My Generation and then smash their instruments.:lol

The lights were the best part! The rest was a colossal disappointment.

You know who would beat them? Lady Gaga. :covereyes

Yes, but she couldn't be trusted not to have a "wardrobe malfunction" of her own.

Oh, you betcha, and there's a group that would bring the house down. Big Bad VooDoo Daddy played the halftime show four or so years ago, and they were great, but the focus was on Stevie Wonder. BBVD basically wound up being his backup band - and he had a hard time singing his old hits, too.

Gary, why would you be depressed? You mean the fact that they aren't like what they used to be? Dahling, that could be said about any of us!!:hugs

Place your bets for next year. The Colts are 7 to 1 favorites, but who will be the halftime entertainment?

You want to go old rockers? How about Van Halen with David Lee Roth! :uh (now THAT really needs the LMAO smiley!)

Just somebody who isn't old enough for Social Security - is that too much to ask? :goofy :lol

I saw them back in 2008, with Wolfie on bass. Actually I was rather impressed with them, except for Wolfie. Yes, he is a kid, so he isn't as "polished" as Alex, Ed and Dave, but he reminded me of a pudgy Valerie Bertinelli on stage. Plus he's no Michael Anthony.
