I know, too, that when I was in school (I graduated high school when I was 17 also, and didn't turn 18 until December of my freshman year in college), it was hard because everyone else could drive a year before I could (the age was 16 in PA at that time). Then, too, when I was in college, I didn't turn 21 until the semester before I graduated.

You and I have this in common. :wave

Same thing for Sara, although we were totally thrilled on the driving thing. :rotfl She went directly from earning her bachelor's degree to earning her masters, so the age difference at that point (the end of grad school) was sort of moot.

I'd still keep her out that extra year if I had a do-over, though. Sending her was a risk, and we were lucky, but I wouldn't risk it again. :huh

that's great, Gary! fun times!

one correction on my part relative to the "being young in high school/college" thing. Where I grew up, if you took driver's ed, you could get your driver's permit at age 14 and 6 months! I got my unrestricted driver's license on my 15th birthday! oh good googly moogly! I was so unprepared for that!

and yes, I did cost my parents bucket loads of money with accidents that came from simply being too young to understand what it is all about. 16 is a good age! 17 is even better!

if I hadn't been limited to a 55 mph speed limits on interstate highways and 200 mile radius per tank of gasoline (thanks to gas guzzling cars that got 10 mpg), I could have gotten in so much trouble!!!

Funny - and true! - story. A few years ago, I had a particularly difficult 6th grade class for music - they were all feeling their oats, and waaaaaay into that whole junior high thing. :rollseyes I decided to do a Christmas musical with them, and it was a tongue-in-cheek story set in the wild, wild west. I cast the best kids in the class as the bad guys, complete with black hats and a permanent sneer. The kids with the worst attitudes were the good guys, white hats and all. :lol It was absolutely the BEST Christmas musical I ever did, and the most fun, hands down. EVERYONE rose to the occasion - and I had no more trouble with any of those kids the whole rest of the year. :lol

Waiting on laundry.. yes on vacation! If I packed better I wouldn't have to do this, but I do not want to lug half our clothes down here. Or rewear. Andy doesn't have the problem with rewearing, but the rest of us are not nasty stinky boys :sick

Otherwise it's been great, I'm exhausted and a little sick, Andy got really sick when we first got here. He's toughing it out though :) But in all it's been great, been a while since I've had a trip with ONLY little ones. Eva's been a dream, and she has loved everything we've done. I wish I had the abillty to run a camera on her constantly, but that would require a third and possibly fourth arm :lol I keep forgetting to text Joe :blush but being that we all sick and whatnot I may just leave him alone :lol

Sounds gross, but it works - ever try SinusCleanse? It's a saline nasal wash. I haven't had a single sinus infection since I started using it, and colds and nasal congestion are things of the past. First sign of a cold, I use the stuff, and no more problems. My doctor suggested I try it, actually, and now I swear by the stuff.

One hint - make SURE the water you use is lukewarm. Too cold, and you're going to feel like you're snorting sea water. Too hot, and you'll have a headache.

So I had a choice to make, brownies or cookies? Which of course means I had to decide if I wanted to make myself sick eating cookie dough or brownie batter.

Brownie batter wins!

Still going through a couple of thousand photos! Had a fun time in Disney with my girls.

Found frost on the car in Florida a bit of a novelty. It also got too busy during the second week. But those minor things aside was great fun.

We tried to tackle a kitchen sink but failed. Had an inch or so of goop left at the end. Apparently the record is one man eating the whole thing in 9 minutes! They said if a single person eats it within an hour, they get it free!

Met Kirsten and she drove us on a safari.

Ate far too much, but walking up to 30,000 steps a day helped a bit to counteract the effects.

Helen trapped her finger in the car door. I took her to the local emergency medical care centre only to find they closed at 8:00 pm. So handy hint - if you're going to have an accident in Orlando, make sure you do it in office hours!

Unlike past times I did not have an American rental, it was a Kia, so it did not cry when going around corners.

No bug problems with the hotel.

Still smiling thinking back. :)

How busy was too busy? Were the wait times really long? I'll be working in Fantasyland from March 29 - April 11th, and I already know they expect it to be a madhouse because I'm scheduled for about a gazillion hours! :faint

Kirsten told me that MK were caught off-guard the middle weekend with multi-thousands more than they were expecting.

Personally, it's the first time I've been there and the bathrooms have not been in a good state due to sheer numbers.

I don't like queueing and when fast passes run out before midday, it's time to head elsewhere.

Dahling, no offense, but this trip report is sadder than a straight woman looking for action in a hot tub full of homos. WE NEED PICTURES!! I'm so glad you had a wonderful time and I eagerly await your photos!!!

I'm feeling great! I just hit my second trimester last weekend, and I'm finally starting to feel my energy levels come back up. I'm still VERY tired after the end of a long (or especially hard) day, but I don't feel like I need a nap in the middle of the day anymore. Thank goodness. I have my next appointment on the 31st, and I'm hoping we get to hear the heartbeat :love

Our daughter Sara is pregnant with her second baby, and she is VERY nauseous, and has lots of heartburn. All of this is a rude surprise to her, because she didn't have any of that with Katie, her first. Her baby isn't due until early November, so she's got a long haul ahead of her.

How did the youngest member of your party like WDW?

It was all very new for her and it took a few sulking fits for her to realise the whole world does not exist purely for her and that she needs to learn a little patience - five minutes is not a long time to wait for the parade to start and is no cause for another sulk fest.

She started the holiday too scared to go on anything fast. Then wanted to go on fast things and was not enthusiastic if it was slow but refused Rock and Roller as it would be fast! Test track was her favourite - which always broke down when we were in the fast pass line and even broke down totally just before the fast loop so we ended up walking out of the ride. However, her lessons in not sulking working, as despite being disappointed she did not sulk. We ended up paying a visit to Down Town Disney and picking up the baby Dumbo soft toy she had her eye on.

She had been to the Paris park when five years old and got an aversion to the characters as Mr Smee's face hurt her. But it did not take long to get over that one and we met lots of characters.

Ice cream for breakfast as Sizzler's all you can eat went down well.

She discovered why she did not have a Kitchen Sink all to herself.

She loved the safari drivers who put their foot down at the end and nearly bounced her out of her seat.

She hated Splash mountain for nearly bouncing her out of her seat !!

She went through the Drawing Academy in The Studios several times and make great improvement. Main success was learning that you don't have to press on the pencil with all your weight every time it meets the paper.

Her favourite park was Epcot - helped by it being less crowded due to its size and housing Test Track.

All in all, a successful trip.

:lol no idea. (oh, maybe you're thinking of the iPad..) I actually went to Best Buy just to take a look at laptops. And I was pretty sure I was leaning towards switching to Mac...but I really was FLOORED by this thing.
The MacBook I could afford was the 13 inch version and had 2 GB RAM and a 2. something GhZ processor and for the SAME price, I got a 21 inch all in one iMac...with a 3. something GHZ processor and 4 GB RAM which is expandable and a big Hard Drive (I think 500 GB)
It was really just the smarter decision LOL. More bang for my buck!

Finally getting around to getting window treatments in our house, it's only been almost two years! My MIL is making them, and when I went to Joann's to buy the fabric, the lady cutting said "This is so cool! It looks like, I don't know, the curtains in Dean Martin's living room, or something you'd find in a tiki lounge"

:blink :rotfl I said they both make me happy :goofy

Here it is:

I happened to be off of work today and was at home when there was a knock on the door. Turned out to be the young neighbor below who wanted to let me know that the FBI might be paying a call to ask questions about him for his background check since he was applying to be an agent. Now before the knock and visit I had just made a healthy stir fry of cabbage, carrots, and lean ground turkey. So yeah. The house stank of cooked cabbage. As I was talking to the neighbor the cat ran out of the apartment. I had to grab him quickly and then held onto him petting him as I was talking to the neighbor.

And as I stood there petting the cat with the smell of cooked cabbage wafting out of the apartment, I suddenly realized with horror, that I had become the crazy gay neighbor with the cat whose place smells like cabbage. :uh

A lot of you know that I wasn't hired back to my old internship for this summer, due to stupidity, and I've been sort of, extremely, freaked out by not having any kind of job to go home to this summer. I applied to the Newark Bears for an internship yesterday morning on whim, I've applied and interviewed with them before, but the fact that I wasn't going to be home until May killed that chance. After a bunch of emails all afternoon, I got an interview last night, and as of about 8pm yesterday, I'm their newest intern! :circles

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- It's not often women win the Masters, but they did Sunday.

Actually, Phil Mickelson won, but for millions of women around the country, it must feel like a lipstick-sized victory. Mickelson, in case you forgot, is the guy who stayed true to his wife. He's the guy who's been missing tournaments the last 11 months while he flies her back and forth to a breast cancer specialist in Houston. He's the guy who didn't need reminding that women are not disposable.

Mani-pedis for everybody!

Also winning Sunday: karma, which proved to be alive and well. And guys who never had a temper in the first place. And endings that make you wipe your tears on the couch pillows.

Mickelson is the guy whose heavy head on the bed pillow lately wasn't self-inflicted. Both his wife, Amy, and his mother, Mary, have breast cancer. Usually, those two are at every tournament he's in, but for the last year they've been fighting, resting, and fighting again at home. And Mickelson has gone back to his rented homes alone.

So when Amy turned up on the 18th green Sunday at Augusta National for the first time in 11 months and Mickelson practically fell into her outstretched arms, you wanted to hug somebody yourself. Mickelson hugged and cried. And his wife hugged and cried. And his coach and his caddy hugged and cried. And 10 minutes later, the caddy was still crying.
"This is way beyond golf," said caddy Jim "Bones" Mackay, who's been with Mickelson for 19 years. "This is about a guy who loves his wife. This is about a guy who had a really hard year. Twenty years from now, nothing will compare with this. This is his greatest win, by far. Because of Amy, because of his mom, everything. God bless all those women that go through what Amy and Phil's mom have gone through. Because I've seen it and it ain't easy."

"Of all the majors I've been involved in," said Mickelson's coach, Butch Harmon, "be they with Tiger, Phil, anybody, this is the most emotional by far. This year has been a big, big strain on him. His game has suffered. What he really wanted was to be home with his family."

You figured a guy who came into this Masters having played only seven tournaments this year -- and never placing better than eighth in any of them -- would have a snowball's chance. But something melted in him when his wife and three kids showed up for the first time in nearly a year on Tuesday.

"He just had this peace to him that I haven't seen in awhile," said Bones.

Amy was still hurting, so she wasn't able to come to the golf course, but it was close enough. Each morning, Mickelson would take his oldest, Sophie, to a local coffee shop and play chess for an hour. At night, the whole brood would watch dumb movies. Mickelson came through that door each night after work like it was Christmas morning. You don't know how dispiriting it is to come home after a long day to a strange, empty house. Come to think of it, maybe Tiger knows.

"It's been tough," Mickelson said. "The meds that she's been taking have been very difficult and she didn't feel well and she doesn't have energy and she's not just up for a lot. But to have her here, man …"

Amy Mickelson is the kind of walking rainbow that could put a smile on a mortician's face, so when she showed up, everything started looking up. The golf gods started raining favors down on Mickelson's curly hair. On Saturday, golf balls started going into tiny little cups from great distances. Sunday, it got even better:

At 9: ball hits tree, bounces back into fairway. Par.

At 10: ball hits tree, bounces back into playable territory. Par.

At 11: ball hits fan, bounces into short, happy grass. Par.

"Got an assist there," Mickelson said.

Did the guy say anything?

"Ouch?" Mickelson guessed.

The big lefty took it from there.

At 12: looked into his "book of reads" for the 20-foot putt -- the green-studying book that Bones and he spent "days and days" putting together on a trip this year to Augusta -- and buried it. Birdie.

At 13: pulled off the most audacious, swashbuckling shot of his life at 13 -- from the right woods, off pine straw, through two trees (4 feet apart), over Rae's Creek, from 207 yards, to 3 feet. Two-putt birdie.

At 15: smashed an 8-iron from 205 yards -- yes, 8-iron to 15 feet for a 2-putt birdie.

Suddenly, the guy who'd spent a career being eaten alive by Woods had left him 5 shots behind. It was only a matter of lag for par, lag for par, 10-foot birdie and get the Kleenex ready.

"I saw Amy just before I putted," Mickelson said. "That was so great. I mean, I didn't know if she would be there. To walk off the green and share that with her is just very, very emotional. We'll remember this [for] the rest of our lives."

Contrast that with Woods, who spent the week reverting to form -- acerbic answers, sprayed swear words, and curt interviews. He finished fourth, which shows that the golf game is very close. The personality makeover, though, looks like it needs some work.

Soon enough, though, Woods will win tournaments like this, pass Nicklaus, and order will be restored in the universe. But for this one Sunday in a flower-stuffed pocket of Georgia, the good husband, the good son, the good man actually got rewarded

Thanks everyone! I'm pretty excited for this. I don't think I could have gotten this kind of opportunity with my old team, so maybe everything happens for a reason. The best part is that they're looking to hire in the off season, and the guy I spoke with said that if I'm even half as good as my resume and interview makes me sound, it'll be mine to lose. :yahoo
It's going to be a little bit different than what I'm used to, going from affiliated ball to independent, and from a place that sold out multiple time per season, to one that doesn't really seem to. It'll be an adjustment, but I'm ready for a new challenge!

Some of those (like the friends lists) don't really work anymore because of the recent changes facebook has made - like the "similar posts" thing. Your specific friends list now has posts by everyone who has the same applications as those on the list, whether you want them there or not.

The premise is this guy answers real ads and then he lets the hilarity ensue.

You've no idea how much courage it to get me on that thing! It's not very big at all and it's actually 1/3rd bigger that the real one. :blink But it was cool to be on a ship that was in movies like Mutiny, Treasure Island as well as Pirates of the Caribbean.

So Gordon, don't be too jealous, but the plan after Leah's first communion Saturday is... Jeni's ice cream! :circles

Ok, I've decided it's time for the baby weight to go. :rotfl I mean the rest of it. I would get rid of some, then not care, then get rid of a tiny bit more, and not care more :lol but summer is upon us and I refuse to buy any more clothes!

So anyway, I did my calorie needs formula, and doing Insanity I should be eating 1700+ calories a day... TO LOSE WEIGHT!! :faint That sounds like so much compared to some of the diet plans I read in some of the magazines. It's a whole meal more than most of them allow :lol

So wish me luck, although now that I've had enough, it usually isn't too hard to do this :lol

I am doing just fine! Now, I'm not 100% sure, but... I think I felt the first kicks yesterday at work!! It was definitely a new sensation I've never felt before, and it sure felt like someone was poking or kicking or SOMETHING :love

Aside from that, I'm pretty... emotional lol. Every day I ride a mini-emotional roller coaster, and it's starting to drive me a little bit crazy. But I can't complain too much. I've had it pretty easy so far.

You and just about everyone in Philadelphia . . . including his mother who was humiliated by the whole thing.:lookaroun

. . . and, while I'm sure he'll wait until the attention dies down, the kid will probably sue and get a settlement in the $50,000 range.:rollseyes
